Herman George Stelljes is the brother to Anna Maria Stelljes (married Henry
Steltenpohl).

Margaret is the daughter of Herman George and Gesche Stelljes (see
picture above).
This picture postcard was sent from Margaret to my grandmother
Elsa (Steltenpohl) Hindman
in 1915. She admonished my grandmother for not writing more often!

Herman and George are the brothers to my great-grandmother Anna (Stelljes) Steltenpohl.
The Herman Stelljes family is also featured

The George Stellyes
changed his name from Stelljes to Stellyes. That is why the names are
different.
Other Notes about the spelling of names...
Dehning has also
been spelled Denning and Demming.
Dammann has also been spelled Dammen.
I have
it on
good authority that Dehning and Dammann is correct.

Photo Solved!
For the longest time, we weren't entirely sure who the Earnest
Stellyes was that visited
my grandmother in the late 1960s. With the
help of the included photo (Thanks, Roy!), it
seemsthat it was Carl Earnest Stellyes (son of George). His
wife's name was Reta.
In the front is my dad, Vernon Hindman, and Earnest. In the
back row
is my sister Elin,
Ernest's wife Reta, my grandmother Elsa Hindman, and ME!
Also note that
Earnest is the little boy in the "Herman Stelljes and brother George
Stellyes" families photo above!
MYSTERY STELLJES
PHOTOS
The following photos were unmarked, but felt to be of the
Stelljes family.
Can you help me identify them??
This photo was taken in 1950 on the same
day as the "Five Stelljes Sisters" above.
It shows two of the sister (from top photo) with an
older lady. The caption says, "This was
the last picture we had of Aunt Margaret Stelljes. My sister Anna
and Emma with her."
Who is this Aunt Margaret?
Who is this Stelljes family?
This picture hung in my grandmother's kitchen for years and years.
She told me
about it when I was a kid, but don't remember the details. I'm
sure that she said
it was relative of her mother's family. Anybody know which family
it is?
